Today's Glossary

Niche = a niche market. This is a specific area of a market.

Domain = Domain name. This is the name of your website, people will
type this into their web browser to find your site.
Niche research = the act of researching your chosen niche market.

Before We Start

I want to stress that it is important to take action on these
emails... it will be tempting to skim through them, and then save
them to a later date... please do not do this.

If you can take action, even for just 10-15 mins per day, you will
complete this successfully.

To give extra motivation, I will promote the 10 best finished blogs
via my blog (DeanHunt.com) as a reward to those who take action.

If you follow the advice in these emails, you WILL have a finished
blog that is capable of making you a new income stream.

Ok, let's get started.

Niche Research Made Simple

Ok, let's get started...

We first need to have a topic for your blog... this is known as a "niche".

The research phase of this is known as "niche research".

The easiest way to do this is to write down all of your interests, then,
write down all of the subjects that you are knowledgeable about.

You may be thinking, "But Dean, I am not an expert at anything".

That is not true...

A wise man once told me that "everyone is an expert at something"...
you may be thinking that this isn't the case for you, so think about
it this way: 14 year old kids are experts to the 12 year-olds.

So you don't have to be the best in the world, in fact, even if you
only know how NOT to do something, that is still valuable.

A Niche Research Trick

Here is a hugely powerful trick I use to research niche ideas...

Go to www.43things.com then look in the top right corner for the
search box... type in one of the ideas from your list.

Example: Golf

I typed in "golf" and hit enter, and it provides 1034 results
related to that word.

The cool thing about this is that you have now just tapped into
people's wants and desires... you see, 43things is a website
where people list their life goals.

Now you need to refine your list and look for specific goals.

Example: "golf" is not very specific, and online it is key to be
uber-specific.

"learn to golf" is better...

"learn to golf with a score of under 90" is even better...

or ""learn to play mini-golf"

Do you now see the importance of finding a specific niche?

Have a play with 43things.com and find one, specific niche idea.

The next step is to see if your niche has people that are willing
to spend money on your information.

This is a key area that many people overlook...

There are two simple litmus tests that will provide this information:

Two Litmus Tests to Find a Profitable Topic

1)     google - Go to Google.com and type in some related words for
your niche.

       Example: "Learn to play golf"

Then simply look down the right side of the results for the
"sponsored ads", these ads are paid adverts, and if there are any
results then this means that people are willing to pay to advertise
there... and if they are paying, then there must be a crowd of
people willing to pay for that info.

The above example provides many sponsored results, so we know that
this is niche has a crowd of people willing to pay money for
information.

2)    ClickBank - clickbank.com is a website that allows people to
sell digital products... this is a great way to see if people are
paying for information in your niche.

We recommend cbengine.com which is a search engine for the
Clickbank digital products. Simply type your main keyword in the
"keywords" box and hit enter.

So for example, "golf" provides numerous results, but "mini golf" doesn't,
so we know that people probably are not willing to pay to get better at
mini-golf, but they are willing to pay to play regular golf.

3)    Here is another great trick... simply go to your local
magazine/newspaper store and look to see if there are any magazines
related to your niche.
If there are magaines, then there is money in your niche.
You see, magazines can only survive if they have advertisers, and
if there are no people willing to pay for info, then there will be
no advertisers.

Simple!

If you get positive results from all three of these tests, then you
are in a potentially profitable niche.

Tomorrow we will look at where to get a domain from, and how to
host your website on a server, so stay tuned.
