Day 3 - Blog vs Website

Today's Glossary

SEO = Search Engine Optimization (The process of optimizing your
website to achieve high rankings in Google search results.
The ultimate goal is being number one.

Wordpress = The most popular blog platform. Think of this like an
engine for your website.

Blog v Website?

You may not know this, but a blog is not the same as a typical website.
A blog was traditionally an online diary, but they havesince grown to
become much more than that.

We strongly recommend you use a blog as your platform, so here are
just 5 reasons to choose a blog over a website:

1)    They are dramatically easier to create - we will soon show you
how to install your blog in under one minute, even with no prior
experience.

2)    They cost a lot less to create (often zero)

3)    They are much more customizable and powerful

4)    They have hundreds more features that can be added with just a
few clicks

5)    They are often better for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) i.e
you will get lots more traffic from the search engines such as
Google.

What Type of Blog Platform Should You Use?

There are many to choose from, but in my opinion, the best option,
especially if you are new to this, is to go with Wordpress.

It is powerful, flexible, and easy to use.

How-to Install Your Wordpress Blog in Under 60 Seconds

============================================
This tip will save you lots of cash and time.
If you signup with our Hostgator link
(use coupon code 'buzzprofit'  NOT 'buzzprofits')

you will have a feature inyour cpanel entitled "Fantastico"...
this is a script that automates the installation of Wordpress.
Don't worry if you are a little lost, but you will need your HostGator
and Godaddy account. (code: cjsave10)
So to start, go to http://YourDomain.com/cpanel
(replace YourDomain with your actual domain name)
and login with the admin details your host provided, scroll to the
bottom and click Fantastico, Once Fantastico opens up, look on the left and

click on WordPress, which is under the heading "blogs". This will
take you to the auto installation.

On the installation page, choose to do a new installation.

You'll now choose which domain you want to install WordPress on. If
you just have one domain, then you'll just install it on the one
domain. This page will also ask you to choose a user name and
password for logging into the administration section of WordPress.

(Make a note of the username and password you choose)

After clicking to install it, you'll go to the next page to finish
installation.

After you click to finish installation, WordPress will finish
installing and you'll have the option of emailing the details of
the installation to yourself. Now that it's installed, you can use
the username and password that you created to login and start
writing posts. To login, you'll go to http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ (replace YourDomain with your actual domain name)
