Making Money From Your Blog - Day 8

How Exactly Does a Blog Make Money

For me, a blog is a great way to open a lot of doors to other opportunities... for example, I use it to get opportunities to speak on stage, I use it to do deals such as my $1 million t-shirt sponsorship, and I use it to increase my personal brand...

But I have no doubt you want quicker and more direct ways of making some cash from your blog, so here we go:

1)    Blog Adverts (including Google adsense ads)

2)    Paid Posts (Also known as sponsored posts)

3)    Your Own Products

4)    Consulting

Let's look quickly at each one of these, and I will explain to you which one of these four you should focus on

Blog Adverts

These come in many shapes and sizes, the most popular is Google Adsense, which you can sign up for at https://www.google.com/adsense

*The good: Adsense is used by millions of site owners, you get a fee for every click that the ads receive, and they will be matched to your content... so if you have a site on dog grooming, there will be related ads.

The amount per click can range from a few cents, to $5 and sometimes even higher.

*The bad: Generally, you need a huge amount of visitors to make a living from adsense, and frankly, if you have that many visitors, you can make more money via other avenues.

Paid Posts

Also known as 'sponsored posts' this is where one website will pay you to review their website or blog... the issue here is that they are paying you, so it is to be expected that you are very kind about them.

*The good: It creates content, and makes you money.

*The bad: This raises moral issues. Afterall, you are being bribed to say nice things about them, even if you think they are not very good.

Your Own Products

This is where things get really exciting... this may sound a little daunting, but creating your own products is a surprisingly easy process, and I will cover this in a lot of detail in coming emails.

*The good: easy to make, costs nothing to create, 100% profits margins on digital products, no overheads, no deliverability costs on digital products and tons more.

*The bad: none.

Consulting

Consulting is where you help someone do something, or you teach them something, and in return, they pay you for your time.

*The good: a nice way to start making money pretty quickly, also, it can help position you as an expert.

*The bad: time for money is a very old fashioned model. Afterall, there are only 24 hours in a day, so your potential earnings are capped.

Don't worry too much about this right now, all I wanted to demonstrate was:

1)    You CAN make money from your blog

2)    You have numerous options

3)    Your own product is BY FAR the most profitable option

We will cover this in more detail in the near future, and I will show you exactly how to create products, even whilst you are in the bath (seriously)
